General comments: Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle is a great introduction to dieting, getting lean, and building muscle. Tom Venuto's approach is to "teach a man to fish." He tells you what works and why it works and gives you some guidelines and examples to develop your own program.

It's one of the best no-nonsense, well researched diet programs I have ever read. While Tom came out of the bodybuilding community as trainer, this book is very appropriate to both people who merely want to lose abit of  weight as well as those looking to get really lean.

Diet Plan: The diet is very balanced and focuses on a healthy mix of proteins, fats, and carbs. Low-carb vs. low-fat - who is right?  Well, the answer is here. And, the information found in this program completely debunks a lot of the BS you hear in magazines, newspapers, and on-line. You'll find out how to clearly determine the right amount of protein, carbs, and fats for your specific diet.

Recipes come with this book as a bonus item.

Workout Program: This where the book lacks a little. Venuto presents very sound appropriate workout plans and tells you how to build your own, but there is no instructions on how to do the exercises. For someone who has spent time in the gym, this won't be a problem, but a novice may need additional information on correct exercise form.

Tom also takes a very interesting is his look at cardio. He talks quite a bit about high intensity cardio vs. steady state cardio and tells you which one works better and when. This was a very interesting comparison.
